About Tarr Technology Consulting
Tarr Technology Consulting designs, installs and maintains technology systems in private homes. As independent consultants, not product retailers, we use our knowledge and objectivity to determine the best solutions that balance form, function and cost. Typically our clients want high-quality stereos, televisions, computers, telephones, lighting, security and home automation systems, but have previously been sold costly equipment that is too complicated to use or they don’t need. As a result, they are too frustrated to use what they end up with - we prevent that. As pragmatic technologists, we select the appropriate equipment based on our clients’ technical sophistication, budget, and needs.
We are independent consultants who design custom technology plans based on our clients’ needs. We are not affiliated with any manufacturers or vendors and our business model is not based on selling products; it is based on consulting. Usually we provide the equipment for our clients but our clients are free to purchase products from the vendor of their choice. We are only paid for our actual time spent on the project. As a result, our clients end up saving a substantial amount of money by not paying the extreme mark-ups that specialty retailers charge. Thus we remain impartial and independent experts who recommend the most appropriate equipment, taking into consideration our clients’ cost, functional, and aesthetic requirements. This approach compels us to stay on top of every new technology and offer objective recommendations. Tarr Technology Consulting was founded in 1998 by Jeff Tarr, a top technologist with over 15 years of experience in computer programming and networking, telephone and internet services, and high-end electronics, including A/V systems, lighting and gadgets. A graduate of Harvard University with a degree in Computer Science, Jeff Tarr was formerly the Chief Technology Officer of Giga Information Group, an IT research firm now owned by Forrester Research. |
